Causes of Apollo 11

Apollo 11 was the caused by a race between the U.S. and the soviet union durring the cold war. The soviet union was winning the race, thay had launched the first satalite, Spudnik 1, and got the first man in orbit. The U.S. was behind in the space race and needed to win to ensure the people that the U.S. had technological prowess over the soviets. For this reason John F. Kennedy made a promise to the people of the U.S. that the U.S. would put a man on the moon before the end of the decade, sadly John F. Kennedy was not alive to see his promise fulfilled.
